“Varúð” // Sígur Rós // Valtari
So the new Sigur Rós album leaked; I’m not their biggest fan but it’s not half bad I must say

At A Glance - Message To Bears
If you haven’t checked this out already, seriously, give this a listen. Very minimal acoustic post-rock/ambient coming out of these guys, one of the better albums to have come out this year so far.
Not all the tracks have vocals if those aren’t your thing ;)

“Bahnhof Zoo” - Port-Royal
Not quite convinced with Afraid To Dance as a whole, but this intro track is a very strong start indeed. It begins as it means to go on; easy-going glitch-electronics merged seamlessly with gentle ambience give an almost uneasy feel at times, while also bringing in some more post-rock influences to balance everything out.

“Fljótavík” - Sigur Rós
I’m not the biggest Sigur Rós fan. I tend to think most of their stuff is too over-hyped for it’s own good, but credit where credit is due they do have some good stuff, and this is a good example of that.
From their latest album Inni; a live album, pretty much a best-of compilation.

“No Agenda” - Hammock
So Hammock’s new EP Asleep in the Downlights came out last week. Wasn’t really sure what to expect having only ever listened to Kenotic and I guess I wasn’t disappointed with what I heard. Mixed opinions about this though; it brings together the same shoegaze/post-rock sound I’m familiar with that is so lovely on the ears, but it’s not really anything special. It also sounds like you’re listening to it through a mattress; it’s uber soft but it feels oddly muffled and dampened.
Hmm.
