“Keep” // Nils Frahm // Felt

I guess I should upload something, huh? Saw this when it came out and completely forgot to listen to it, which I regretted because it’s bloody brilliant.

Minimal, modern classical with a good deal of piano and strings.

“Rogue Waves I” // Boy Friend // Egyptian Wrinkle

Digging this album quite a lot actually; it is dream pop, granted, and they do sound an awful lot like the Cocteau Twins at times, but it’s just a really cerebral and easy-going listening experience.

Definitely a 2012 album I’d recommend

“Zum Greifen Nah” // Bersarin Quartett // II

Orchestral chamber music with ambient and electronic influences. Despite this album feeling quite long and a little same-y, Bersarin Quartett do manage to keep it interesting with pulses of instrumentation.

Just listen.

“Where You End & I Begin” // Jefre-Cantu Ledesma // Love Is A Stream

It’s been a while since I posted some good old Noise, so here’s some Ledesma. From what I can tell, he’s one part of Yellow Swans, which explains my attraction to his work.

Really warm, richly detailed noise/ambient, great release.

“Spells” // Natural Snow Buildings // Beyond The Veil

So, what new ambient albums have come out this year that you’re all enjoying? Celer have already put out 3 rather good releases. 36 and Natural Snow Buildings have come out with some real corkers as well.

“Final Exit” // Umberto // Final Exit

Designed specifically to serenade you as you live out the last few moments of your life. Staggeringly beautiful

“No One Knows What Shadowy Memories Haunt Them To This Day” // The Caretaker // Patience (After Sebald)

Very much in the same vein as his previous release An Empty Bliss Beyond This World, Patience (After Sebald) brings us yet more dark, minimal loops from pre-WWII 78’s. Again, a deeply unsettling release, I’m not quite sure how I feel about this one yet.
